For those of you who take your gaming seriously, it’s probably come as no surprise that the number of platforms seems to advance at a frankly ridiculous pace. No sooner have you acquired the latest, must-have piece of kit before two new ones are released and an upgrade for the one you’ve just bought. With the world moving towards the idea of motion control and photo realism, where can a gamers go to just play some good old fashioned games?
It may come as a surprise to you that the Nokia Lumina 900 was recently voted as one of the most popular hand held gaming device, and so it should. The range and breadth of games available is quite staggering, whatever type of experience it is you are looking for. Whether you’re after old school platform adventure, brain taxing puzzlers or even first person shooters, there really is something that you will love. Enjoy online casino games? The Lumina 900 has all you need to get the ball rolling.
As Nokia progresses, the games just get better. Each generation of games become slightly more able to take full advantage of the hardware available. This is perfect for browser gaming at places such as online casino Canada, as well as the possibility to find remakes of old classics like the Final Fantasy series, even going up to such recent gems as GTA 3. The controls have all been modified to suit a touch screen setup, but otherwise it’s just how you remember it back in the day.
As well as old favourites, there are some new stars coming up on the app store, with new games being released every week. Just load up the app store and see for yourself. There are hundreds of games available; lots of them as free downloads. The gaming boom is happening all over again, and the Lumina 900 is where it’s happening.
Qt Quick Components UI Demo On The Nokia N8
Check out this video demo of the first release of Qt Quick components for Symbian Technology. The preview applications contain Qt Quick components, reference API documentation, components gallery for Symbian, music player and Flickr demo applications and example code snippets and documentation. I love the overlay status bar in the top right corner of the screen, hope this materialises in upcoming updates and devices, as it frees up some valuable screen space. Its minor things like this that make the bigger overall difference. Check out the video after the break.

How To Update The Firmware
There are many ways of updating the firmware on your Nokia handset. To install the software on your device using FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air), type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Settings>SW Update. Then select Options>Check for updates and follow the on screen prompts. On newer devices you’ll get the option to select which updates you would like to install, so once selected, press Options>Start update. If the firmware update is not immediately available via FOTA, or the device you are using does not have support for this service, you can also update your firmware using NSU (Nokia Software Updater) and or Nokia Ovi Suite on your PC. Once you plug your device in, select the PC Suite option, ensuring that the phone has a Sim Card inserted and the profile is set to General. Some devices support UDP (User Data Preservation), which will preserve all your data and content on your device during these updates. However we still recommend you do a full backup in order to guarantee the safety of your data. Please share your thoughts and experiences with the new firmware in the comments below.
